Chicago | Orchestra Tour | Day 1
[FRIDAY]
Well, getting up today at 4.45 paid off, I'd say. First, I got ready and left for the high school. I got there at 6:20. It was a little early... BUT it was a great time to pick any seats! The trip started out slowly but quickly turned into a laughing workout. There were many bridges we had to go under, and we were SO close to scraping a few! It took quite a while to get to our first gig - this was at an elderly care facility in a church called "Lutheran Home & Services." Tony and I completely botched our solo parts... oh well!
After this finished, we got back onto the bus and left for lunch.
Illinois drivers SUCK. For some reason, nobody noticed that we were a COACH BUS. We take wide turns and cannot maneuver through tight spaces, yet they still insisted on following so closely, swerving and such! LOL!
For lunch, we went to the Hard Rock Cafe. This was a ton of fun. Lexa and I shared french fries and mashed potatoes. We also each got macaroni and cheese. YUM!!! Then, after lunch we went to the Art Institute of Chicago. This was a ton of fun. Tony had some GREAT art history lessons. Oh yeah, and many of the sculptures had tons of tits or eight arms... LOL. Also, a while after being too hot we decided to go to the old Chicago Stock Exchange and just sat on the floor. Then we decided to go back to the bus. It was lightly raining and our bus wasn't there yet! The black lady forced ALL of us to wait inside (where we could not see the bus,) and in the BURNING HOT area. LOL. The bus was about 20 minutes late.
After this, we made out way to the hotel to check in and freshen up. Yeah... that didn't really happen. The bus driver took like eighty wrong turns, so we only had time to stop there and use the rest rooms.
We began to head to the Drury Lane Dinner Theatre to eat, then see "AIDA." We were over half an hour late to that, as we were already late AND the bus driver took five hundred wrong turns! LOL! On the way there, we asked to turn on the radio... so I put my FM transmitter on my iPod and played "Friday" and "My Jeans." It pissed off many people. LOL! I had the fettuccine alfredo. I also tried the caesar salad that was given out before. I ate a lot of it, surprisingly! The desert was wonderful... a delicious wafer straw and chocolate syrup over vanilla ice cream.
The show was the best part of the night! "AIDA" was just a beautiful performance. The dancing, singing, all just so perfect! I loved the wardrobe and music!
Tiredness is now, and it is 12.42 AM. We got back less than a half hour ago. The bus ride home was a lot shorter than the one there... we checked into the hotel, got to our rooms, and have to be up in the morning.
Well, a ton of pictures to come to facebook, and some videos. More to come tomorrow!!
Great day!!
